The Fogolars Country Club originated in 1981. The name Fogolars was chosen to encourage and promote this site as a meeting place for all of the other Fogolars to gather. Most of our Members originate from the Friuli and Tre Veneto Region in North eastern Italy. This region is set between the Alps and Adriatic Sea. The “Fogolar” represents the hearth which is still considered the center of family life in Friuli. You may have noticed in Italian homes that the gathering place is most likely in the kitchen. A warm comfortable refuge plentiful of food and drink to sit and discuss the concerns or issues of family or the world. The modern hearth of the home. |
For years the Furlans who immigrated to Canada and their descendants have held on to this FLAME and tried to keep the Fogolar Furlan alive and strong in the community. In order to achieve this there was a need to establish a fitting location to have activities and events so their efforts could flourish. Therefore this placid escape with its soothing exposure to nature was established.
